The Oxford & Cambridge Hotel was situated
on the bank of the River Thames, just south of Kew Bridge Road. This pub
opened in 1839 as The Poplar Inn but changed its name in 1867. It was owned
by the Royal Brewery and bottle tops and bottles with those markings were
found when the site was excavated in 2007. On October 10 1889 a meeting took
place here held by Brentford Rowing Club, when it was decided to form
Brentford Football Club. This pub closed in 1923. |
