This was my first local as a 15 year old apprentice from HMS Collingwood
down the Khyber Rd, my first drunk Thursday 1965, never forgotten, my
mates told me it was 11 pints of Truman's Brown Ale, never drunk it
since, came out of the toilets dragging a toilet roll around my feet and
somehow made my way back to Strood and woke up on a bench at the top of
Strood Hill, it was a fun pub that allowed us boys/men to drink as long
as we behaved. |
