I have some very happy memories of this pub as
my godfather was the landlord for many years. Mr. Edward (Ted) Chenery ran
it with his two sisters. I still have two tankards in my collection, one for
the Robin Hood PH and one for the Cannon Brewery. There was the main bar and
a small Snug bar, it was a very popular pub for weddings and the local
Ramblers used to meet there. Ted retired to Cuffley but unfortunately passed
away many years ago. I was very shocked on a return visit many years later
to see the pub had been demolished. Opposite the pub was a hairdresser's
called Queenies. My parents lived in Hill Rise when first married and did
regular fire watches during the war in Potters Bar |
