I lived in Hadley near this pub growing up. My father was a customer sometimes, my Mum cleaned there and her friend Vera was a waitress. It had a large beer garden on the right hand side looking from the front. The yard on the left hand side (looking from the front) was a car park and below that there was a stable where a few horses were kept.
The landlady for years was Gladys Trimm. I think it was a Watneys pub and possibly the public bar was on the left and saloon bar on the right

Back around 1934-5, the pub used to offer boxing training facilities for London Transport staff working at Potters Bar Bus Garage. This was reported in the staff magazine 'PennyFare' at the time.
