The Wheatsheaf Inn was situated on
Smithy Lane. This pub is grade-II listed
and has now been
converted into two cottages. Present by the late 18th century, licensees from census records:- 1871-1891
Thomas Fearn; 1899 Kelly's Directory William Twigg; 1901 Census George Twigg.
It doesn't show as an inn in 1911 census and is not listed in Kelly's 1912
edition so probably closed between 1901-11. |
